MR Residence

Milan, Italy

2006 — 2009

Situated in one of the most prestigious residential areas of Milan, the project merged two apartments into a single spacious one.  Located on the fifth floor of an original fifties residential building, the spaces looks out into the greenery of the surrounding trees. The layout of the apartment was developed  through exploration of the connection between living spaces and nature.

The spaces are divided through the use of functional volumes (walls containing cloakroom, storage rooms etc) cladded in sandstone; separated by floor to ceiling sliding doors also cladded  in sandstone.

Through thorough detailing of seamless junctions and high-end finishes, the apartment exerts an aesthetical, spacious yet luxurious experience. A carefully selected modest palette; mainly of sandstone cladding to walls and oak wooden floors; creates a simple and uniform whole, placing  further emphasis on the greenery around the apartment.  Detail example are the custom made bronze window frames that disappears completely into the façade which also tilt inwards at large spans.

Meticulous detailing combined with bright color accents through art and furnishing (such as the glazed terracotta pots in the color of the fifties-façade tiles); transpires an apartment with a uniquely pure yet calm experience.
