Marteen is more than the sum of its parts; it is modularity clashing with dynamism. Composed of upholstered seating modules, this new range can be arranged in a myriad of layouts – from single pouf-like seats all the way to 2-seaters or 360° self-standing islands that become the fulcrum of the living area. The sofa rests on a base with 8-cm lamella-like feet surmounted by padded volumes that create tectonic layers for maximum comfort. Ultra-soft padded parallelepipeds can be juxtaposed to plush armrests and built-in table/trays that almost adroitly conceal well-proportioned drawers. Here, materials play with one another – wood with fabrics, leathers with metal. The architectural and monolithic character of [sofa name] mellows as Molteni&C’s know-how and outstanding craftsmanship emerge through the rigorous manufacture and outstanding ergonomics. In a contemporary manner, the latter hinges on the use of loose cushions, the oversized one being the undisputed protagonist of the collection.

Tables
As if an offspring of Marteen, the eponymous occasional and side tables present a unique feature: Shifting volumes. The tectonic elements – a reminder of Gabriella Crespi’s creations – are brought to the next level via the possibility to combine different heights and shapes. The system leverages the warmth and texture of thermo oak in contrast with metal finishes bringing tactility to living areas or workspaces.
