Taking place on the 1st, 3rd, & 4th of October, A-track brings together the best of design in Antwerpen with exclusive events, novelties, and designer presentations across the city’s leading design stores.
A-track will launch with an exclusive rsvp only Nocturne on the evening of Thursday, 1st October, at Donum. The Nocturne will feature an exclusive presentation by Antwerp Architect and Designer Vincent Van Duysen with an opportunity to meet the designer and guests will be provided with a wine degustation from an artisanal Italian wine importer. Antwerp based fashion designer Maureen Declerq will present her latest fashion collection and, in partnership with MINI, the new MINI Cooper Clubman will be on display in-store. During the days of the 1st, 3rd, & 4th of October, A-track guests will have access to Mercedes-Benz shuttles between locations to experience product showcases and designer talks at 22 of Antwerp’s premium design stores and showrooms.
For A-track 2015, Belgian architect and designer Vincent Van Duysen collaborates with Donum, Antwerp’s top furniture and lifestyle showroom, to showcase his continued relationship with Italian manufacturer B&B Italia. Released at 2015 Salone de Mobile, Van Duysen’s ‘Oskar’ table combines robust assemblage with unexpected materiality – reinterpreting a Modernist design language, guided by industrial principals, balanced by contemporary and crafted materials.
Vincent Van Duysen was born in Lokeren, Belgium, in 1962, and undertook a degree in Architecture at the Higher Institute of Architecture Sint-Lucas, Ghent. Since 1990, his Antwerp-based studio has concentrated on a portfolio of architecture, interior, and furniture projects both in Belgium and worldwide. A strong relationship exists between Van Duysen’s designs and architectural projects – he develops furniture and objects with an architectural perspective – creating spatial relations rather than shapes. A rescaled interpretation of the architectural work, Van Duysen creates pieces that afford a purity and essentialism yet remain tactile and grounded.
