‘Ik beschouw het als een artistieke casestudy van hoe je in een appartement aan de Schelde een compleet eigen wereld kan scheppen.
Die wereld lijkt op het eerste gezicht kil en vijandig, maar in de warme grijswaarden zitten bijzonder veel schakeringen die de plek een intimiteit geven. De oneffenheden in het hout en in het betonpleister creëren een menselijk, ambachtelijk karakter.
De architectuur is hier een gelaagd spel van texturen, beperkte materialen en uitgebalanceerde volumes.
Huiselijkheid tot in haar soberste vorm herleid.’

'I consider this project as an artistic case study of how one can create a world on its own in an apartment along the river Scheldt.
This world might seem cold and hostile at first sight, but by giving walls, ceilings and floors endless nuances in warm grey textures, the space obtaines a unique intimate character. The roughness and irregularities in wood and wall finishes create a humanly, artisan atmosphere.
The architecture is a layered play of textures, limited material palet and well balanced volumes.
Domesticity reduced to its soberest form.'
