H Offices
Kortrijk, Belgium
2012
The project is located in a historically significant former textile weaving factory, built shortly after 1900, and has recently been converted into lofts for both living and working.
Of this 150-square meter office, the client requested one large main space and a number of smaller offices that would only be used fro, time-to-time. This brief allowed the qualities of the original space to be maintained as much as possible.
Owing to the warm material palette – dark timber paneling, oak floor boards, and soft upholstered furniture – the office has a residential feel and character.
As a souvenir to the offices industrial past, Vincent Van Duysen Architects chose to maintain the brick ceiling and the cast iron columns which add richness and character to the space.
